Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain titled composition of high rigidity and modulus, with outstanding tensile strength and elongation and high adhesivity to steel cords, suitable as embedding rubber for belt ply use, by incorporating rubber with sulfur, organic acid cobalt salt and specific carbon. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating (A) 100pts.wt. of rubber with (B) 3-7pts.wt. of sulfur, (C) 0.5-5pts.wt. of an organic acid cobalt salt, pref. cobalt stearate or cobalt naphthenate, (D) 50-70pts.wt. of carbon of an iodine adsorption >=110g/kg and DBP oil absorption <=95m /100g, with small particle size and few sequences of the particles, and (E) as a curing promotor, pref. 0.5-1.5pts.wt. of NOBS (N-oxydiethylene benzothiazyl sulfenamide). The cured product therefrom has the following mechanical properties; (1) 100% modulus 40-70kg/cm , (2) breaking strength >=200(esp. >=250)kg/cm , (3) breaking elongation >=380%, (4) dynamic modulus >=100kg/cm .
