Summary:PURPOSE:To decide a nodular corrosion susceptibility simply in a short time at the outside of a reactor and to forecast whether the reactor loading is suitable or not by leaving a titanium sample for >=1hr in a water vapor of prescribed temp. and pressure and observing the surface of the sample. CONSTITUTION:The titanium sample 1 is hung down in an autoclave 2 by a wire 13 made of stainless steel. After evacuating the autoclave 2, it is heated to 445-565 deg.C. Deionized water or distilled water 4 is fed in an autoclave 3, and the pressure of the water vapor 14 is maintained to constant by adjusting the temp. A valve 6 is opened gradually to supply a water vapor 15 to the autoclave 2, and the pressure is maintained to 55-135kg/cm . After leaving for 1- 85hr in said state, the sample 1 is taken out and observed to the nodular corrosion susceptibility. In this way, the susceptibility to nodular corrosion is decided simply in a short time at the outside of atomic reactor, and whether the nuclear reactor loading is suitable or not can be forecasted.
