Summary:PURPOSE:To suppress generation of roll wear and rolling flaws and to obtain a T steel having an optional side and thickness with common rolling rolls by adopting open pass type rolling and performing a series of rolling stages in combination of said rolling as well as 4-roll rolling and 3-roll rolling. CONSTITUTION:A slab-shaped blank material is rolled with a rough rolling type rolling mill A having an open pass P by which a rough shape material S' is obtd. The rolled material having an optional side length, thickness and stem height can be obtd. by performing such open pass type rolling. The rolled material is repeatedly rolled by such rolling mill and is formed to a prescribed shape. The rolled material is rolled down to about the product size by a rolling mill group provided with a 4-shaft rolling mill B and a 3-shaft rolling mill C and is subjected to the final flange-end rolling by a 4-shaft rolling mill D. The rolled material S is rolled and finished by a 3-shaft rolling mill E or 2-shaft rolling mill F having an open pass P in the next finish rolling stage.
