Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain coke having a high strength after reaction and to shorten coking termination time, by controlling the feed rate of fuel such that ethylene concn. in gas generated from a coking chamber lies on the normal curve of ethylene concn. CONSTITUTION:Changes in the oven temp. with time well correspond to those of ethylene concn. with time. The standard pattern of changes in ethylene concn. is first set according to operation conditions such as coking cycle, initial oven temp., oven body condition, etc., coal properties such as water content, volatile matter content, particle size, etc. and the quantity of coal to be fed. Ethylene concn. in gas generated from a coking chamber is analyzed and the feed rate of fuel gas is controlled such that the measured value of the ethylene concn. lies on the standard pattern. By such a simple operation, the time of changing the feed rate of quantity of heat in programmed heating can be properly judged and the softening and melting of coal or fluidity during dry distillation can be improved. As a result, coke having a high strength after reaction can be obtd. and coking termination time can be shortened.
