Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a furnace body owing to the combustion of the gaseous hydrocarbon for cooling a tuyere which leaks from the space between the shell and bottom plate of the furnace by providing a header and recovering the leak gas with said header. CONSTITUTION:A hermetic recovering header 15 which recovers the gaseous hydrocarbon (leak gas) for cooling a tuyere which leaks partly from the space between a bottom plate 2 and a shell 6 of a furnace body is provided over the entire circumference in the juncture between the plate 2 and the shell 6. Pipings 4 for recovering the gas are provided in >=1 lines from the header 15 to the furnace mouth part. The above-mentioned leak gas is incorporated through the piping 4 into the converter waste gas in the furnace mouth. Such waste gas is recovered by a noncombustion recovering installation for the waste gas. The damage caused by heating in the supporting device for the furnace bottom and the bottom piping owing to the combustion of the leak gas is thus prevented and the calorie of the waste gas is improved.
