Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium enhanced in durability, etc. by incorporating nitrocellulose having COOH groups in a specified proportion as a binder component in a magnetic layer and cross-linking said COOH groups with a compd. having plural aziridinyl groups in one molecule. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer formed on a base film uses as the binder of a magnetic powder a binder contg. a vinyl chloride copolymer or the like synthetic polymer, and 5-80wt% nitrocellulose (based on the total weight of the binder) contg. 0.1-200mmol COOH per 100g nitrocellulose, and 5-40wt% compd. having plural aziridinyl groups in one molecule represented by formula I -V based on the total weight of the binder. As a result, the magnetic powder is uniformly dispersed, and strong in adhesion to the binder, and the obtained magnetic recording medium has strong adhesion between the magnetic layer and the base, too, and superior surface property, durability, etc.
