Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate for heterocyclic synthesis, dye, etc., an inhibitor for vinyl polymerization, etc. easily in high yield, by reacting an alkoxymethylenecyanoacetaldehyde with an amine. CONSTITUTION:A novel alkoxymethylenecyanoacetaldehyde (e.g., methoxymethylenecyanoacetaldehyde, etc.) shown by the formula I (R' is 1-5C lower alkyl) is reacted with an amine (e.g., methylamine, ethylamine, etc.) shown by the formula II(R and R are H, 1-8C alkyl, aryl, 3-8C cycloalkyl, etc.) in an inert organic solvent at 0-150 deg.C for 0.1-10hr, to give the desired aminomethylenecyanoacetaldehyde shown by the formula III. The amount of the amine shown by the formula II used is 1-20mol based on 1mol compound shown by the formula I .
