Summary:PURPOSE:To mass produce molded glass articles by using an easy apparatus, by leading a glass ribbon in a softened state in transferring to the tops of plural vacuum molds on an endless conveyor moving at almost the same speed as the glass ribbon. CONSTITUTION:A base glass material 2 molten in a melting furnace is molded into a glass ribbon 5 of a given thickness by rolls 3 and 4 and then led to the tops of plural molds 7, mounted on an endless conveyor 9 by feed rolls 6, and fed to the downstream side by the endless conveyor 9 according to the feed rate of the glass ribbon 5. Cutting blades 8 having tip sharp edges to be pressed into the glass ribbon 5 by a pressurizing apparatus for cutting the glass ribbon 5 are provided above the plural molds 7, and fed according to the feed rate of the glass ribbon 5 in the same way as the molds 7. The glass ribbon 5 led to the tops of the molds 7 is closely adhered to the molds 7 and molded by the discharge of air from the space between the molds 7 and the glass ribbon 5 through vacuum suction holes 14 along the molds 7, and the cutting blades 8 are simultaneously pressed into cutting positions of the aimed molded articles 10 and then raised after a while.
