PURPOSE:To enable the water in a vertical conduit to be stopped effectively and safely further with simple constitution at maintenance work of a hydraulic machine, by controllably mounting a water stopping float shaped stop cock for a hydraulic machine part to be lifted from the upper part of a storage water tank in the outlet part of the storage water tank or in the conduit. CONSTITUTION:A water stopping float shaped stop cock 20 for a hydraulic machine 15 at its maintenance, inspection, etc. is controllably mounted to be lifted from the upper part of a storage water tank 11 to the part of an outlet 12 of the storage water tank 11. That is, the stop cock 20 is formed to a hollow spherical shape, and if water is filled through an internal feed water pipe 24 to place the cock in a full water condition, the cock is sunk by its dead weight and closely attached to a seat 21 of the outlet 12 to seal a conduit 13. And if a feed air valve 25 of a feed air pipe 23 is opened to feed gas into the stop cock 20 while a valve 26 is opened to discharge the water through the pipe 24, the stop cock 20 is floated to open the outlet 12. That is, so-called weight balance construction is equipped in the inside of the cock. In this way, the water in a vertical conduit can be stopped at maintenance and inspection of the hydraulic machine effectively and safely further with simple constitution.
