Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the performance of maintenance, by monitoring always the generation rate of bit failure of a transmitted PCM signal for finding out the deterioration in characteristics during service. CONSTITUTION:A receiving amplifier RA of a regenerative repeater obtains a data punched at a prescribed clock and latches the data once in a latch circuit LTH. A main signal is given to a transmission line PTL via an output stage OT. A conventional circuit is used for a bit failure detection circuit BED. An oscillator OSC oscillating a frequency equal to the center frequency of the BPF of a monitor signal frequency and its output level adjusting device LVC are provided. when the bit failure rate exceeds a prescribed value, a control circuit CTL connects the power supply to the oscillator OSC and selects the input terminal of the BPF to the level adjusting device LVC position. Thus, the signal is transmitted to a monitor line SVL with a frequency specific to the repeater and the level proportional to the rate of failure. When a terminal station detects it, the deterioration is monitored even during the transmission of signals.
