Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the operatbility of a disk clamp mechanism with a simple constitution, by using a holder part which is supported at the front of a cabinet in a free opening/closing way to clamp a disk as well as a disk holder which is set at the holder side in an open state and projected in a closed state. CONSTITUTION:When a disk 45 is put into a holder part and a cover 23 is closed, a reflective photosensor 28 delivers a disk presence detecting signal DSET to a control circuit 49. The circuit 49 delivers a laser ON/OFF control signal LDC to a laser APC circuit 50, and a pickup 25 is energized by the circuit 50 to emit the laser. When the cover 23 is closed before the disk 45 is loaded, the signal DSET sent from the sensor 28 is not supplied to the circuit 49. Therefore no laser is emitted from the pickup 25. When the cover 23 is opened after the disk 45 is loaded, the signal DLK sent from a switch 471 is not supplied to the circuit 49. Thus no laser is emitted from the pickup 25.
