Summary:PURPOSE:To remove a spike noise precisely, by reading the same photoelectric converting element successively by several times and integrating an output waveform during the period by an integration circuit. CONSTITUTION:The main body part 41 of a solid-state image pickup device includes a photoelectric converting element and a horizontal and a vertical scanning circuit. For example, the vertical direction (n)th row and the horizontal direction (m) column are selected. Then, a vertical scanning output waveform is Vn and a horizontal scanning output waveform is h'm. The horizontal scanning (circuit outputs double pulses to read the same photoelectric) converting element successively by twice. Therefore, the output S' of an amplifying circuit 44 consists of waveform (a) containing a light signal and spike noises and waveform (b) containing only spike noises. Then, waveforms 52 and 53, and 51 and 54 have mutal correlations. Therefore, the integration circuit 43 integrates the waveform S' during the period of a waveform I to remove the spike noises, reading only the light signal component.
