Summary:PURPOSE:To decrease the number of apparatus for the titled operation such as a resistance chopper by dividing a plurality of driving motors into two groups, connecting each group of armature groups to regenerative resistors and connecting each group of field winding groups in parallel with a semiconductor converter for a magnetic field system. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of the driving motors are divided into two groups, the regenerative braking resistor 17 is connected to the armature group 3 of the motor group of the first group, and the regenerative braking resistor 20 is connected to the armature group 5 of the motor group of the second group. The field winding group 4 of the first motor group and the field winding group 6 of the second motor group are connected in parallel with the common semiconductor converter 21 for the magnetic field system. Accordingly, a chopper exclusive for regenerative operation can be omitted, and stepless field-weakening control is also enabled.
