Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain titled composition capable of providing coating film excellent physical properties such as high adhesivity and strength, suitable for long- term corrosion prevention for marine steel structures, etc., for use in a vehicle for zinc-based coatings, by incorporating an alkyl silicate condensate with a specific proportion of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, a boron compound, metallic chloride, and water. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating (A) one mole of an alkyl silicate, with the following components: (B) 0.0001-0.005 mol of hydrochloric and/or sulfuric acid, (C) 0.01-0.5mol of at least one sort of boron compound selected from boric acid, boric anhydride, fluoroboric acid salts, and boric esters, (D) 0.01-0.1mol of at least one sort of metallic chloride selected from zinc chloride, ferric (ferrous) chloride, and stannic (stannous) chloride, and (E) such amount of water as to result in a degree of hydrolysis >=50%, and, if requird, (F) a solvent. EFFECT:Rapidly curable, having high dryability even in the case of thick coating film, and also excellent stability after zinc powder mixing. USE:For shop primers, bridges, etc.
