Summary: | NEW MATERIAL:A benzenepolycarboxylic acid ester shown by the formula I (R is H, or lower alkyl; R and R are H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, or R and R are linked to form group shown by the formula II; R is H, or protecting group; n is 3-6 integer). EXAMPLE:Trimellitic acid tri[ 2-( 3, 4-dihydro-6-hydroxy-2, 5,7,8-tetramethyl-2H- benzopyranyl)ethyl]ester. USE:An antioxidant for organic materials such as fats and oils sensitive to oxygen, rubber products, plastics, or processed foods, etc., more improved than vitamin E, and its intermediate. PREPARATION:A 2-substituted ethyl alcohol shown by the formula III well- known for the most part or its reactive derivative is reacted with a benzenepolycarboxylic acid shown by the formula IV or its reactive derivative, to give easily a compound shown by the formula I . |
