Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the capability of the whole of a system such as simplification of a program in a main processor or the like by providing an auxiliary processor to perform the dot pattern conversion processing of all character data including Kanji (Chinese character). CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary processor 7 is started by a main processor 1 to read character data from a main memory 2 and converts non-Kanji such data as alphanumerics, Kana (Japanese syllabary), or the like to dot patterns internally. In case of Kanji data, parameters are converted to read data from the memory 2. When character dot patterns are read completely, dot patterns are written in a video memory 10 through a video memory control part 8 or are controlled with respect to display positions or the like. Since the dot pattern conversion processing of all character data including Kanji is executed only by the auxiliary processor and the main processor can be devoted to another processing during this processing of the auxiliary processor, the capability of the whole of the system is improved. Further, the program of the main processor is simplified, and the conversion processing is performed in high speed.
