Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain highly pure p-divinylbenzene, in high yield, economically in an industrial scale, from crude p-divinylbenzene wherein the ratio of p-isomer/ m-isomer is higher than a specific level, by cooling the crude raw material at a specific temperature, and separating the produced crystal of the p-isomer from the system. CONSTITUTION:Crude p-divinylbenzene (DVB) wherein the ratio of p-isomer/ m-isomer is >=1/2, preferably >=1/1, especially >=2/1, is optionally dissolved in an organic solvent, preferably in an aliphatic hydrocarbon, and cooled at <=10 deg.C, preferably 0--60 deg.C, especially 0--30 deg.C, and the produced p-DVB crystal is separated to obtain refined p-DVB having a purity of >=98%, easily at a low cost. The above raw material is preferably the one obtained by adding a complexing agent composed of a curprous salt and/or a silver salt, especially cuprous chloride to crude DVB containing impurities, and treating the DVB with conventional complexing process, thereby adjusting the p/m ratio within the above range.
