Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a spool which is provided with an excellent insulating characteristic and a rust preventive effect by forming a polyolefin film via a carbide layer on the surface of the metallic wire rod of a titled spool called briefly as a cage spool. CONSTITUTION:Spool elements (a)-(h) formed by bending a wire rod 1 are arranged into a circular shape and the radial rims of the adjacent elements are joined to each other to obtain a cage spool. The spool is charged into a fluidized bed of polyolefin powder and granules 4 formed of the gas flowing upward through a dispersing plate 5 on a meshed plate 3 of a painting device 2. The spool K is preliminarily heated to the carbonizing temp. of the powder and granules 4 or above. Then the powder and granules are touched, melted and stuck on the surface of the spool to cover the entire surface of the spool. The powder and granulues 4 sticking on the surface of the spool are further coated with a polyolefin layer P sticking thereon and are carbonized by the waste heat possessed by the spool thus forming a carbide layer C. The source adhesion between the wire rod 1 and the layer P is obtd. by the layer C intervened therebetween.
