Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent malfunction of a dropout compensating circuit by using an AGC circuit so as to correct the reproducing level change at the SP mode and the LP mode and changing the dropout detecting level at the SP mode and the LP mode. CONSTITUTION:Variation in the reproducing level is corrected by using the AGC circuit 32. Further, each dropout at the SP mode and the LP mode is detected optimizingly by two dropout detecting circuits 42, 43 having different dropout detecting level. Thus, the deterioration in the sound quality at each mode is minimized because malfunction of the dropout detecting circuit due to the difference in the reproduced S/N between an adjacent disturbing signal and an FM sound signal at each mode is eliminated. Since the optimum dropout detecting level is set, dropout is detected surely with simple circuit constitution without mis-detection during the period of generation of dropout due to the adjacent disturbing signal.
