Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain sufficiently precise data without requiring skillfulness by measuring heat weight characteristics of silicone oil for electricity, finding a heat resistance index TGI from the characteristic curve, and deciding on deterioration when the index decreases below a specific value. CONSTITUTION:The heat weight characteristics of silicone oil for electricity which deteriorates are measured to obtain the curve as shown in a figure. Then, a 10% weight decrease point and a 20% weight decrease point are connected by a straight line; and the temperature where the straight line crosses a base line (0% weight decrease line) is denoted as T1 and the temperature at the 20% weight decrease point is denoted as T2to calculate the heat resistance index TGI by TGI=(T1+T2). When the TGI of the silicone oil for electricity is calculated by using said equation, results in a table are obtained; when the silicone oil deteriorates, the TGI decreases and a decision on deterioration is made when the TGI decreases below 325. Therefore, sufficiently precise data is obtained without skillfulness.
