Summary:PURPOSE:To change function automatically in accordance with the number of connected flexible disc driving devices by forming a means detecting automatically the change of the number of devices at the time of change. CONSTITUTION:When electric power is supplied to a word processor, an initializing program built in a control part 51 is excited to check the present number of the connected flexible disc driving devices 2. In accordance with the number of connected devices, the function of the word processor is automatically switched. When only one flexible disc driving device is connected, a system program increasing the number of times of replacement of respective floppies 7-9 is excited, and when two flexible disc driving devices are connected, a program floppy 7 and a dictionary floppy 8 can be driven by one device 2A, and a document floppy 9 can be driven by the other device 2B, so that a system program reducing the conversion of the floppies is initiated.
