Summary: | PURPOSE:The addition reaction of a halogen-containing alkylene oxide to a polyoxyalkylene polyol of low hydroxyl value is effected in the presence of an acid catalyst to enable easy production of the titled compound of low hydroxyl value which is suitable for use in production of polyurethane foam. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound is obtained by effecting the addition reaction of a 3-6C halogenated alkylene oxide such as 4,4,4-trichloro-1,2-epoxybutane to an oxyalkylene polyol of 20-120 hydroxyl value in the presence of an acid catalyst such as BF3, HBF4, SbF5 or PF5 by 10 or less molecules per one hydroxyl on the average. |
