Summary:PURPOSE:To attain time division multiplexing between a luminance signal and a chroma signal by arranging the luminance signal at an effective horizontal sacnning period in a horizontal scanning period and arranging a time axis compression chroma signal compressed into a prescribed ratio at a horizontal blanking period. CONSTITUTION:The luminance signal Y transmitted from a terminal 2 of a decoder DCD is given to a time division multiplexer TDM and a line sequential signal comprising two signals transmitted from a terminal 3 is given to the time division multiplexer TDM via a time axis compression circuit TC, the luminance signal exists in the effective horizontal scanning period in 52 mus in one horizontal scanning period of 64mus, further a DC level for color reference having 1.6mus of time length and a chroma signal time-axis compressing the chroma signal of 52mus into 1/5 by the time axis compression circuit TC, i.e., a time axis compression chroma signal (R-Y)c having a time length of 10.4mus in the remaining 10.4mus exist in the horizontal balnking period of 12mus, and the time division signal of this signal form is transmitted.
