Summary: | PURPOSE:To prepare a self-adhesive poultice having excellent water-retainability and shape-retainability, by dissolving gelatin and a polyacrylic acid in water, adjusting the pH of the solution to a specific level, adding a dialdehyde starch uniformly to the solution, and adjusting the pH of the solution to a specific level with a hardly soluble weak acid metal salt. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of 1pts.wt. of gelatin with 1-5pts.wt. of a polyacrylic acid or polyacrylic acid-alkali metal polyacrylate mixture is dissolved in water, adjusted to 2.5-5.5pH, added with 0.01-0.5pt.wt. of dialdehyde starch, and mixed homogeneously. A desired components such as active drug components, etc. are added to the mixture in an arbitrary step in the above process. The pH of the mixture is raised to 5.5-7 by adding a hardly soluble metal salt of a monobasic acid or a polybasic acid having a pKa of >=4 (e.g. barium carbonate) or a hardly soluble metal oxide (e.g. zinc oxide), and the crosslinking gelation reaction is slowly proceeded to obtain a uniform crosslinked gel. Since the reaction proceeds under mild condition, the complicated and strict operation control becomes unnecessary. |
