Summary:PURPOSE:To smoothly start an induction motor by a generator having similar capacity to the capacity of the motor by flowing a current to the motor only by the remaining voltage of the generator in such a manner that the input voltage of an automatic voltage regulator is set initially to zero. CONSTITUTION:A switch 15 is closed, an input of an AVR 6 is set to zero, a breaker 7 is closed to flow a current only by the remaining current of a generator 1 to an induction motor 3. Then, the switch 15 is opened, the output of a step-up transformer 11 of a voltage reducing unit 5 is applied through a relay contact 12 to the AVR6 to excite the field winding to gradually raise the output voltage of a generator 1, the rotation of the motor 3 is started by the starting voltage, the contact 12 is then switched by a current detector 13, and the AVR6 is operated in the normal state. Accordingly, the unit 5 is regulated in response to the starting characteristic of the motor 3, thereby readily starting the motor 3 of the capacity similar to the capacity of the generator 1.
