Summary:PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution and control by editing a pattern signal from a pattern memory and a pattern signal from a pattern generator by using a unit character area corresponding to a code signal as a unit. CONSTITUTION:The pattern signal transferred from a CPU is stored in a pattern memory 17 via an interface 101 in a facsimile transmission channel and the character code signal is stored in a code memory 20. A code of the memory 20 is decoded at a decoder 23 and outputted as an address of a pattern generator 24. In editing the pattern signal of the memory 17 and that of the generator 24, the data is edited by using the unit character area corresponding to a code signal from the memory 20 as a unit, the edited data is outputted to a P/S converting section 107 by the control of an output control section 25 and transmitted with coding.
