Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent an auxiliary steam turbine from rusting, by keeping the exhaust pipe of the auxiliary steam turbine connected to that of a main steam turbine all the time so that steam is not condensed to water. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust pipe 17 of an auxiliary steam turbine 14, which is not used normally, is always connected to that 24 of a main steam turbine 21. The turbine-side diameter of the exhaust and drain pipe 25 of the turbine 14 is made larger than the conventional one. The steam discharged through the exhaust pipe 24 is mostly released into the atmosphere or has back pressure and a part of the steam is branched, led through the exhaust pipe 17 of the turbine 14 and the exhaust chamber thereof and released to the outside through the exhaust and drain pipe 25. Due to this branched steam, the steam always flows in the auxiliary steam turbine 14 so that the inside of the turbine is not exposed to air, the turbine is kept at a prescribed temperature and the steam is unlikely to be condensed to water even if the operation of the turbine is stopped.
