Summary:PURPOSE:To enable to increase the thrust of a variable thrust type rocket motor at a desired time, by projecting the front part of a nozzle into a combustion chamber, and charging auxiliary propellant grains around the front part of the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:Grains 4 consisting of a main propellant 2 and a restrictor 3 are charged in a motor case 1. The front part 6C of a nozzle 6 is projected into a combustion chamber 1a, and auxiliary propellant grains 8 are charged around the front part 6C of the nozzle 6 formed around the nozzle axis. With such an arrangement, a rocket motor is set into operation by igniting a combustion surface 2a by a main ignitor 14. Further, in order to increase the thrust, priming powder 12 is ignited by an auxiliary ignitor 11, and a restrictor 9b is ruptured through combustion of the priming powder. Thus, the thrust of the rocket motor can be increased in a desired manner.
