Summary:PURPOSE:An untiulcer comprising 4-{[2-{4-[2-(morpholino)ethyl]piperazino} ethyl]oxycarbonyl}phenyl-5-methoxy-2-methylindole-3-acetate or its acid addition salt as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:An antiulcer comprising a compound shown by the formulaIor its acid addition as an active ingredient. The compound shown by the formulaI is obtained by reacting 4-hydroxybenzoic acid with 2-[4-(morpholino)ethylpiperazino]ethanol to give a compound shown by the formula IV, which is reacted with 5-methoxy-2-methyl-3-indole. Having improved antiulcer action, protease inhibitory action, inhibitory action on gaster movement, and inhibitory action on the secretion of acid in the stomach. USE:A remedy and preventive for gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, gastritis, and gastroxynsis.
