Summary: | PURPOSE:To obtain a light wt. tough and inexpensive adsorbent, as a fire retardant adsorbing material, by filling interstices of pulp and a ceramic fiber with an inorg. foam. CONSTITUTION:The pH of a slurry formed by throwing pulp and a ceramic fiber into water is adjusted at the same time when the beating of said slurry is started and, to the resulting pH adjusted slurry, an inorg. salt foam consisting of a fibrous crystalline fine powder comprising double salt of basic aluminum carbonate and sodium and a water soluble silica compound such as silicate are added. By this method, interstices between the pulp and the ceramic fiber are filled with the inorg. salt foam to obtain a fire retardant adsorbent. This adsorbent is excellend in a sound absorbability and adsorbability and has wide use as well as is light wt., tough and inexpensive. |
