PURPOSE:A drying and fungicidal agent that is a combination of a drying agent which is prepared by packing a deliquescent salt with a moisture-permeating material and a volatile fungicide, thus showing remarkably increased fungicidal effect at high temperature and moisture. CONSTITUTION:A dryig material which is prepared by wrapping a deliquescent salt such as calcium chloride with a moisture-permeating material, is combined with a volatile fungicide such as butyl-m-cresol or p-chloro-m-xylenol to give the objective drying and fungicidal agent. Or the drying material is used together with the fungicide to control fungi. The salt may be used directly or after being carried on a support such as vermiculite or pearlite. When the salt is supported on a carrier, it is packed with a usual moisture-permeating sheet, however, when used directly, it is packed with a synthetic high-polymer sheet such as Tybec made by DuPont Chem. Co..
