Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain in a high yield a W or Mo wire free of defects such as crack or cut, by coating the surface of a rod obtd. by forging sintered W or Mo with a graphite suspension of a specified viscosity followed by wire drawing. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a W or Mo rod of diameter 1-3mm. obtd. by forging a pillar-like sintered body obtd. by molding and sintering a W or Mo powder, is coated with a graphite suspension of viscosity 10-120cP at normal temp. prepd. by suspending a graphite powder and, if necessary, adding a dispersant such as methylcellulose, a binder such as sugar or a pH adjustor such as ammonia to water and/or an org. solvent, and said rod is subjected to wire drawing at a drawing rate of 6-15m/sec.
