Summary: | PURPOSE:To find the propagation speed of a crack, by providing plural electrode lines at specific intervals at right angles to the propagation direction of the crack of a sample and detecting an electrode line being broken. CONSTITUTION:When an impulsive load is laid on pins 21 and 21 of the sample 1, the triggering electrode line 14 between triggering electrode parts 131 and 131 is broken firstly by a crack extending from a precrack 20. This breaking causes voltage variation between triggering input terminals TR1 and TR2 of a synchroscope and it appears on the screen of the synchroscope, so that the generation of the crack is confirmed. Then, as the crack extends, a voltage waveform image varying stepwise in an y-axis direction is projected on the synchroscope screen. Therefore, the propagation speed of the crack is found by the step intervals and respective intervals of measuring electrode lines 15, 16 ... Thus, the crack propagation speed is found precisely. |
