Summary:PURPOSE:To prepare efficiently vinblastine, by making tissue of Catharanthus roseus of South Africa growth into callus by a combination of a cytokinin and an auxin. CONSTITUTION:Tissue of Catharanthus roseus of South Africa growth is made into callus by a combination of a cytokinin and an auxin. The formation of the callus of tissue is carried out by adding various kinds of plant hormones to a proper medium, cultivating plant tissue in it. The combination of a cytokinin such as kinetin and bezylaminopurine and an auxin such as 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and naphthalene-acetic acid is preferable as the plant hormone. Three combinations of benzylaminopurine and indoleacetic acid, benzylaminopurine and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, and kinetin and naphthaleneacetic acid are especially preferable.
