Summary:PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of radio noise throughout a total frequency band, by setting a value of resistance almost uniformly distributed in a high voltage cable of resistance cord, which connects an ignition coil and a distributor, to a specific value. CONSTITUTION:An ignition device is formed such that high tension cables 4, 5 of resistance cord are connected between an ignition coil 1 and a distributor 2 and the distributor 2 and a spark plug 3. Then a rotor 7 further provided with a dielectric material 5 is used for the distributor 2 as a radio noise preventive countermeasure, while the plug 3 is constituted as a long resistance plug having monolithic resistance 17. Here to further increase a radio noise preventive effect, a value of resistance almost equally distributed in the cable 4 connected between the coil 1 and the distributor 2 is set to at least 12KOMEGA. Further this cable 4 is formed at least 70cm long.
