Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent a spark from occurring between a low voltage electrode and a bulb neck portion by forming a thin and high resistance film by deposition on a region inside the bulb neck portion facing the low voltage electrode so as to maintain said region at a relatively low and stable potential during an operation. CONSTITUTION:A thin and high resistance film 10 is arranged on a region inside a bulb neck portion 1a mainly facing a G2 electrode 4. The high resistance film 10 is obtained by evaporating the surface portion of the G2 electrode 4 made of stainless steel, iron, nickel alloy or kovar, etc. in the vacuum. This high resistance film 10 is the thickest at said region facing the G2 electrode 4 and becomes thinner as it is separated from said region in sequence. The thickness at said region is such that the color can be slightly visible to the naked eye.
