Summary:PURPOSE:To make the cutting work for an ingot unattended and to improve the speed of cutting, by providing a detector which detects the part of the ingot failed to be cut cooperatively with the torches of a gas cutter, and operating the torches thereby enabling the prevention of the failure in cutting the ingot. CONSTITUTION:A titled device consisting of detectors 9, 10 which detect the part of an ingot 1 failed to be cut cooperatively with torches 2, 3 of a gas cutter provided to a continuous casting installation, the 1st setting part which stops the torches 2, 3 and moves the same in the opposite direction when the detectors 9, 10 detect the part 16 failed to be cut, and the 2nd setting part which moves the torches 2, 3 again in the original direction and makes the moving speed thereof lower than the original speed after the torches 2, 3 move in the opposite direction. With said device, the 1st and the 2nd setting parts operate when the detectors 9, 10 detect the part of the ingot 1 failed to be cut, thereby preventing the failure in cutting.
