Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a particulate ABS resin by a simple operation, by effecting graft copolymerization in an emulsion state and adding an unsaturated nitrile only to the polymerization system and partially coagulating the emulsion in the production of an ABS resin by an emulsion-suspension polymerization method. CONSTITUTION:In a process for producing the titled resin comprising grafting an aromatic vinyl monomer (e.g., styrene) and an unsaturated nitrile monomer (e.g., acrylonitrile) onto a rubber-like elastomer latex (e.g., styrene/butadiene copolymer latex) in an emulsion state; partially coagulating the graft-copolymerized latex; converting the latex into a suspension state; and grafting each of the above monomers which are added after the above emulsion-state graft copolymerization onto the copolymer in a suspension state; only the unsaturated nitrile monomer is added to the reaction system after completion of the graft copolymerization in an emulsion state, and then the latex is partially coagulated.
