Summary:PURPOSE:To enhance productivity in the preparation of a sintered ore, by a method wherein a limestone particle layer is formed to the lower part below the surface of the charge layer of a compounded stock material to carry out sintering and a limestone particle is converted to quick lime particle by the heat due to sintering to form quick lime in a sintering process. CONSTITUTION:A floor covering ore layer is formed on the pallet 1 of a sintering machine (a) by a floor covering ore hopper 5 while a limestone particle layer is formed thereon by a limestone particle hopper 6 and compounded stock material is charged on the uppermost layer thereof by a compounded stock material hopper 4 and a sloping plate 3. In this state, the compounded stock material is ignited in an ignition furnace 2 and the pallet 1 is run to obtain a sintered ore and to form a quick lime particle from the limestone particle. The resulting product is passed through a breaker and a cooler 7 after sintering is completed and a sintered ore product is separated by a screening apparatus while quick lime and a return ore are recovered to be supplied to a sintering line through a return ore tank 12. The limestone particle layer can be formed in two or more layers and combustion can be assisted by mixing a coke powder.
