CONSTITUTION:Starting materials consisting of, by weight, 18-38% P2O5, 0- 30% Na2O, 0-30% K2O (Na2O+K2O=3-30%), 8-65% PbO, 1-45% Ta2O5, 0- 20% Nb2O5, 0-15% TiO2+WO3, 0-25% BaO, 0-5% CaO, 0-25% ZnO, 0- 20% SrO, 0-20% MgO (BaO+CaO+ZnO+SrO+MgO=0-25%), 0-15% B2O3, 0-3% Li2O, 0-3% Al2O3, 0-3% ZrO2, 0-3% Y2O5, 0-3% Gd2O3 and 0-3% La2O3 are uniformly mixed and melted at 1,000-1,200 deg.C. The melt is defoamed and homogenized by agitation, and it is charged into a metallic mold and cooled to obtain optical glass having optical constants such as 1.58-1.91 refractive index and 20-45 Abbe's number.
