Summary:PURPOSE:To maintain the prescribed wire bonding strength by protruding partly the pressing surface in the prescribed width along the annular and inner peripheral side as 2-stage annular pressing surface. CONSTITUTION:A capillary 5 is formed in a cylindrical shape, is formed at the lower part in convergent shape, and is formed at the end (lower end) in an annular pressing surface. This pressing surface is projected from the flat base pressing surface with a projecting ring having a width (c) along the inner peripheral side of the pressing surface. The end surface of the projecting ring is formed in a flat projecting pressing surface 8. The projecting length (e) of the annular ring is approx. several um to several tens um when the thickness of a wire 4 of aluminum is approx. 40mumphi. According to this capillary, when the crashing esidue (a) of the projecting ring is set to approx. 0.6d of the diameter (d) of the wire, even if irregular pressing and crashing amount is produced due to the irregular output of supersonic vibation, the clamped part (b) of the side that the wire 4 extends becomes thicker than the conventional one. As a result, the bonding strength can be maintained, thereby improving the yield and reliability.
