Summary:NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulaI, wherein l is 10 or 11, A is a residue derived by removing the hydroxyl groups from a dihydric aliphatic alcohol, or one of residues of formulas II-IV, wherein R1 is H or a 1-6C alkyl, R2 is H or a 1-9C alkyl, X is H or a halogen, x and y are each 2-3, p is 1-4, and m and n are each 2-6. USE:Curing agent for epoxy resin powder coatings providing films excellent in smoothness and luster and low in yellowing due to baking. PREPARATION:The compound can be prepared by reacting a 2-6C dihydric aliphatic alcohol (e.g., ethylene glycol) with an amino group-containing carboxylic acid (e.g., 11-aminoundecanoic acid) in the presence of an esterification catalyst, or by reacting a sec. alcohol obtained by the reaction of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol with a phenol with an amino group-containing carboxylic acid in the presence of an esterification catalyst.
