Summary:PURPOSE:To aim at operational simplification and improvement in safety in case of a 2 persons or 4 persons seat, by making one seat or two seats at either end slidable breadthwise at will within a specified range, while resetting the seat to the original position in a self-operating manner as soon as a sitter leaves his seat. CONSTITUTION:When a person sits down in a sliding seat, a load is therefore transmitted to a suspension shaft 7 via both a cushion member 6 and elevating plate 4 whereby the shaft 7 is rendered going down in defiance of a cushion spring 8. With this movement, since a rocker lever 10 is released from binding in vertical directions, a seat is horizontally shifted in a P direction in this condition kept intact. If so, a roller 14 goes down with its dead load in a Q direction together with the rocker lever 10 after shifting as far as the specified distance and engages with the right lower end face of a retaining washer 12 whereby the seat is locked at its sliding position. Afterward, when a sitter leaves his seat, the suspension shaft 7 floats upward by dint of the spring 8 and the roller 14 is lifted up together with the rocker lever 10, so that the whole seat is automatically reset to the original position by the energy stored in a spring 15 acting as a resilient energy storage.
