Summary:PURPOSE:To take up a wire rod continuously on two bobbins without damaging the wire rod by providing auxiliary flanges having thrust grooves on relative faces of adjoining bobbins, fixing the wire rod in the two bobbins and shifting to other bobbin. CONSTITUTION:In continuous taking up of a wire rod, auxiliary flanges 48, 48' are provided relative faces of bobbins 16, 16'. A wire holding member consisting of thrust grooves 50, 50' and O-rings 52, 52' are provided in bobbins 16, 16'. When the wire rod is fully wound on the bobbin 16, the bobbin 16 moves from a position D to a position E, and the wire rod 1 is bitten by the thrust groove 50 of the auxiliary flange 48. Then, by shifting of a stand, the wire rod is bitten by the thrust groove 50' of the auxiliary flange 48' of the bobbin 16' at a position G, and taken up by the bobbin 16'. When rotation of the bobbin 16 is stopped, the wire rod is pulled and cut at the part held between the two auxiliary flanges 48, 48'. These operations are performed by a limit switch.
