Summary:PURPOSE:To minimze the disappearance of image data due to an error in reproduction when recording image data obtained on every scan successively for an increase in data capacity. CONSTITUTION:When an original image signal is transmitted from a scan readout part to a data reception part, the data reception part 1 reports it to a recording control part 4 and also outputs the signal of every scan to a compression part 2, which generates a compressed signal on the basis of the input to send the signal to a recording data control part 3. The control part 3 counts the byte length of the compressed signal of every scan to decide on the number of scans to be entered into a data part successively and also adds the byte lengths of two successive scans corresponding to the decided number to calculate the number DCB of types. Thus, an identification part ID is composed of the obtained number an other data and sent out to a multiplexer 17 firstly. At this time, the recording control part 4 performs control so that the multiplexer 7 outputs the signal transmitted from the recording data control part 3, so the identification part ID is outputted firstly and then applied to a recording head.
