Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy in the thickness of a strip by compensation of roll eccentricity by inputting the prescribed compensating rate of roll eccentricity which is made correspondent to the key positions and rotating speeds of the backup rolls of hot and cold rolling strip mills to an AGC device. CONSTITUTION:The 1st pulse signals are generated from a pulse generator 13 mounted to driving motor M for work rolls in synchronization with the revolutions of backup rolls 11, 12 in hot or cold rolling strip mills. The 2nd electric signals which are made correspondent to the key positions of the rolls 11, 12 are generated with proximity switch devices 111, 112, and are inputted respectively to function generators 121, 122 and with the 2nd electric signals as base points, the compensating rate of roll eccentricity having the phase differences and rise and fall characteristics corresponding to the 1st pulse signals is applied to an AGC device 9 which offsets and controls the fluctuations in the thickness of the rolled strip to make the thickness uniform, whereby the accuracy in the thickness is improved.
