Summary: | PURPOSE:To improve the stability of a display in terms of moisture resistance and insulation characteristic by sticking org. silicone compds. on the surfaces of spacers to be used between the electrode substrates of an electrooptical display cell and calcining the same thereby covering the spacers with SiO2 films. CONSTITUTION:Segment electrodes 6, an oriented film 7, a common electrode 8 and an oriented film 9 are provided on electrode substrates 2, 3, and liquid crystals 5 are sealed via sealing materials 4 and spacers 10 between the substrates. The spacers 10 in such electrooptical display cell are formed by treating and coating the surfaces of particles of spherical or other shapes of glass, alumina, etc. with org. silicone compd. solns, such as silicone oil, silane coupling agents or the like, then drying and calcining the same. The surfaces of the spacers 10 formed in such a way are coated with SiO2 films and are resistant to chemicals. When such spacers 10 are sprayed on the surface of the substrate 3, the spacers do not stick to each other and are disposed uniformly; therefore, the spacings between the electrode substrates are maintained constant and the display is stabilized. |
