Summary:PURPOSE:To prepare the titled composition giving a coating film having excellent surface even by the low-temperature drying, and having excellent water resistance and high-temperature adhesivity, by using a protective colloid consisting of a carboxyl-containing polymer made to water-soluble, an unsaturated carboxylic acid, and a peroxide. CONSTITUTION:(A) A polymer having carboxyl group (pref. isobutylene-maleic anhydride copolymer, etc.) is mixed with (B) an alcohol (pref. methanol, etc.) and (C) a basic substance (pref. caustic soda, etc.) to obtain an aqueous solution of the modified polymer (A) wherein a part of the carboxyl group is esterified. The product is made to react with (D) an unsaturated carboxylic acid (pref. acrylic acid, etc.) and (E) a peroxide (most pref. ammonium persulfate, etc.), and the reaction product is used as the protective colloid for the emulsion polymerization of (F) vinyl acetate (co) monomer to obtain the objective composition. USE:Adhesive for printed plywood.
