Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the cut-off characteristic by contacting the referential face of an air nozzle inserted through a through-hole in the second grid against the first grid thereby setting and fixing the position of the cathode thus fixing a board having a through-hole of predetermined diameter to the second grid. CONSTITUTION:A cathode support 21, first grid 13, second grid 12A third grid 11, etc. are second to the bead glass thus to assemble an electron gun. The through- hole 20A in the second grid 12A is formed larger than the outer-diameter of an air micro-nozzle 19A. Then the air nozzle 19A is inserted through said through-hole 20A thus to contact its referential face against the first grid. Under this state a cathode assembly 17 is inserted into the cathode support 21 and when the distance to the tip of the air nozzle will be the specific value the cathode assembly 17 is fixed to the support 21. Thereafter a board 24 having an electron beam pass hole of predetermined diameter is fixed to the second grid 12A. Consequently the assembling accuracy is improved while simultaneously the cut-off characteristic is improved.
