Summary:PURPOSE:To manufacture sintered ore with high productivity without deteriorating the quality by mixing blended starting material with a small amount of a linear or flaky iron source and sintering the mixture. CONSTITUTION:When fine ore is sintered, to blended starting material is added <=3wt% needlelike, spiral or flaky iron source, and they are mixed, controlled in humidity, and simultaneously converted into pseudogranules. This mixed starting material is charged into a sintering machine and sintered. By adding metallic iron, the pseudogranules are strengthened, and the space among the granules is maintained properly to enhance the gas permeability during sintering. The added needlelike iron source includes steel fiber having about 1:(20-100) ratio between the diameter and length.
